FREE STuff Giveaway: Marathon Pace Bands
With a monthload of racing coming up, what a great time to announce the winner of the Runners’ Lounge Giveaway.
Thank you to those who contributed another great collection of ideas—this week about advice and tips for your friends and family who support you as spectators. All your ideas are now compiled in an article you've helped create for others to enjoy in the Know-How Section under the Race Distances section.
This week’s winner is Sarah, also known as Strugglepants. Sarah, you’re in for a treat as you’ve won a pair of Race Ready Shorts and a workout singlet. Made with Coolmax material, Race Ready shorts offer four mesh pocket compartments for gels, energy foods, IPods, cell phones, and other small items. I just bought a pair and am looking forward to wearing them Sunday in the Chicago Marathon. No more carrying GU in my hands or pinning them to my shorts. Sarah, you’re going to enjoy your new gear.
A very big thank you to Gerry and Mary at Race Ready for your generosity and supporting the Runners’ Lounge Community. Mary and Gerry can’t do the training for us, but they sure provide gear to make us Race Ready!
Our next FREE STUFF Giveaway Partner: Marathon Pace Bands!
More than the paper pace band you’ve seen at race expos, the authentic Marathon Pace Band is a personalized component of your race gear. The band itself is made of soft polyester washable material that snuggly fits your wrist and is printed with your personal goal splits. The ink on the pace band is part of the material making it impossible for splits to be removed no matter the weather conditions!
In addition to displaying your splits on your wrist, the Marathon Pace Band also features a place to put an inspirational quote, symbols, photo or logo that you can look at to give you that extra boost to finish the marathon.
So start planning your inspirational quote because our friends at Marathon Pace Band are giving away customized bands to three runners.
Everyone can become eligible to win
Since Runners’ Lounge is dedicated to sharing useful resources, simply contribute advice or a tip to this week's Giveaway Question. Your advice can be something you have tried, learned along the way, something you have read, a link to a great post (yours or someone else’s), or a link to others’ advice on another running site.
This week's Giveaway Question:
What running advice do you wish you’d known then that you know now?
As runners, we're living, breathing storehouses of experience, expertise, and wisdom learned over many miles. So Runners' Lounge invites runners everywhere to share their lessons learned over time—your pearls of wisdom to pass along to other runners. To get at your wisdom, consider the following questions. How might your answers to these help other runners?
- What have you stubbornly resisted learning or trying?
- What has led to breakthroughs in your running?
- What lesson about running has taken you too long to figure out?
- What 1 or 2 factors have made your running most successful and enjoyable?
- What training or racing blunders have set you back?
- What 1 or 2 pieces advice would you pass along to a beginning runner?
- What advice would you pass along to a veteran runner whose stuck in a rut?
- What has kept you from achieving your running goals?
- What is one mistake that has made a significant difference in your running that would you like to reverse?

This is part of the signature line of the Black Mamba that's great not only for a round of hoops, but also for going and out and partying.

t moved Duke to 3-0 on the season, gave the Blue Devils a second quality win over an NCAA tournament-caliber team, and secured Krzyzewski's place in basketball history, not that he wasn't there already, in front of his own coach at Army, the man who until Tuesday night held the record with 902 wins, Bobby Knight. When it was over, Krzyzewski shook hands with Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, then headed straight across the court to Knight, who was working as an analyst for ESPN.
